Make your MAIN wish this Christmas a Middlesbrough Lottery ticket

16 December 2021

If you had one Christmas wish, what would it be?

For one charity in Middlesbrough, their wish is to give magical memories to children with autism and their families, all year round.

Caring for a child with autism can be demanding, which is why back in 2002 one head teacher decided to give them a break.

Nigel Carden, former head teacher of Beverley School, established the MAIN Project – a registered charity providing short breaks for children with autism.

Over two decades the charity has gone from strength to strength. MAIN’s services have continued to expand and they now provide short breaks for children with a range of disabilities across the North East. They also run clubs from a purpose-built facility in Middlesbrough for people of all ages.

MAIN’s work is vital for people of all ages living with autism across Middlesbrough, and this Christmas they need your help.

The charity is hoping lots of people support their cause through playing the Middlesbrough Lottery this Christmas, so that they can continue to provide their services such as festive trips out for people who struggle to make new friends.

Darren Holt said: “We have a waiting list of families who are desperate for our support.

"Over the next three years we hope to double the number of visitors we support each week.

"To help achieve this we’ve bought and are renovating new premises here in Middlesbrough. We want our new home to be a beacon for families living with disabilities.”

If you buy a Middlesbrough Lottery ticket and choose to support MAIN this Christmas, you’re supporting families living with disabilities all across Middlesbrough.

Tickets only cost £1 each. 50p of your ticket will go towards your chosen cause and 10p will go to other good causes in Middlesbrough.
