Tees River Rescue want your support to save lives

19 January 2022

Flowing over 85 miles, the River Tees is a local landmark that stretches across the Tees Valley.

The river is teeming with an array of wonderful wildlife, and is an area of outstanding natural beauty.

But as well as being beautiful, the river can be dangerous and unpredictable.

That’s where Tees River Rescue comes in. The charity, made up solely of volunteers, patrols the river day and night, making sure people use the river safely and rescuing those who need it.

Rob Lynas from Tees River Rescue said: “We at Tees River Rescue believe that the Tees is a fantastic natural resource and the jewel in the crown right in the heart of the Tees Valley.

“Making it a safe place for all to use is a key part of our work. Providing patrols to prevent issues and search and rescue when things go wrong keeps people safe and prevents loss of life.”

As well as saving lives, the charity also delivers educational safety talks and training to local groups, schools and businesses – and they need your help to continue their vital work.

“The money people donate to us through buying a Middlesbrough Lottery ticket provides fuel for ‘Adjutor’, our rescue boat, and supplies PPE for our fantastic volunteers.

“Every penny is worth a lot to us. Your tickets help us purchase leaflets and training materials to deliver educational safety talks promoting water safety, ensuring people won’t need to come in contact with our rescue volunteers.”

To support Tees River Rescue, buy a Middlesbrough Lottery ticket today. Tickets cost £1 and 50p of your ticket goes straight to your chosen cause, with 10p going to other great Middlesbrough causes.

If you help run a Middlesbrough-based charity, sports club, dance school or other good cause and are interested in finding out how Middlesbrough Lottery can help you raise more funds, contact us today.
