Swimmers from MASC get ready for a swim

Local swimming club wants your support to make a splash this year

17 January 2022

A  Berwick Hills-based swimming club that produced Commonwealth Gold Medalist Aimee Willmott is hoping to make a splash this year – and they need your help.

Middlesbrough Amateur Swimming Club is looking for people to support them through the Middlesbrough Lottery, so they can continue to produce quality athletes throughout 2022.

Lyndsey Coe, from Middlesbrough Amateur Swimming Club, said: “The club has found it very difficult over the last two years due to Covid.

“With constant closures and not knowing where we stand, it has been hard to keep the club running.

“The support we receive through those taking part in the Middlesbrough Lottery enables us to continue to invest in fantastic swimmers and the growth of our club.

“We are so appreciative of everyone who buys a ticket and chooses to support us.”

Established as long ago as 1886, Middlesbrough Amateur Swimming Club has produced elite athletes throughout the years, whilst maintaining the feel of a family club.

The club is now based out of the Neptune Leisure Centre which is managed in partnership by Everyone Active and Middlesbrough Council.

The institution is made up of highly qualified and motivated coaches, assistants and volunteers who work together as a team to keep a high standard of coaching, allowing their swimmers to reach their full potential.

The organisation has always been regarded as one of the top clubs in the Northumberland and Durham District, and they run on public donations.

To support Middlesbrough Amateur Swimming Club, and help them train more world-class athletes from Middlesbrough, buy a ticket for the Middlesbrough Lottery.

Tickets cost just £1, and 50p goes to your chosen cause. Prizes of up to £25,000 are up for grabs each week.
