Give Middlesbrough children a happy ending this Christmas

21 December 2021

The story of Christmas is one of the most widely known, and is celebrated throughout the world.

One local charity is hoping to change Middlesbrough children’s stories this Christmas, with a view to helping them write their own.

House of Mercy charity is looking to turn the page and start a new chapter in local children’s lives – and they need your help.

They want you to support them through buying a Middlesbrough Lottery ticket, so that they can raise money to buy new books for Middlesbrough children in need.

Kudzai, a spokesperson from the charity, said: “Every pound or penny raised from your tickets will go a long way to ensuring children receive books.

“Your donations will make the children feel so happy and they will be forever grateful.

“What might not mean much to you will mean an awful lot to them.”

Established last year in the midst of the pandemic, the charity originally formed to provide food hampers to local widows.

Having evolved, it now provides reading, writing and homework assistance to children aged five to 16 in multicultural communities in the TS1 – TS5 postcodes.

To support House of Mercy’s cause simply visit www.middlesbroughlottery.co.uk and click ‘play’. You can then choose which cause to support, and buy as many tickets as you like.

Unlike other lotteries, tickets for the Middlesbrough Lottery cost just £1. 50% of your ticket cost will go to your chosen cause and 10% will go to other good causes in Middlesbrough. There is a jackpot of £25,000 to be won.
